Ok, let’s take a second to appreciate one of the greatest culinary creations of all time: the s’more.

Remember that scene in The Sandlot where Ham teaches Smalls how to make a s’more? Pay attention: first you take the graham. You stick the chocolate on the graham. Then, you roast the mallow. When the mallow’s flaming, you stick it on the chocolate. Then you cover it with the other end. Then, you stuff.

I don’t think a time will ever come that if someone offered me a s’mores, I would decline. And I’m not just talking the standard s’more. If I see s’mores flavored or filled anything on a menu or at the grocery store, I buy it.

When I was a kid, I would lose my marbles when we went camping and got to make s’mores. When I was about 10, I went over to a friend’s house and her mom made us “S’mores Crack Dip”. I didn’t really understand why it was referred to as “crack dip”, but after one bite (and a slight sugar rush), was totally hooked. It turned into my favorite dessert recipe. I brought the recipe home with me and made it for my family. I felt like a world famous chef who had just traveled to France, brining back some top-secret, authentic recipe.

I would make it for sleepovers, totally impressing all of my other friends who couldn’t believe we got to eat a giant bowl of s’mores before prank calling boys. I would also offer it as my contribution to family gatherings. And I can tell you with 100% certainty, no adult complained about getting to eat s’mores for dessert.

Since we’ve covered S’mores Ice Cream, S’mores Waffles & No Bake Red Velvet S’mores Cake… it’s time to cover a classic, S’mores Dip!

How To Make this Easy S’mores Dip

This is one of those recipes that’s so easy, it’s a reach calling it a recipe. Basically you just toss some chocolate in a skillet, small casserole dish or other oven-safe dish. Top with marshmallows. Toast for 5 or so minutes, pull out some graham crackers, and BAM! S’mores in dip form that no one will be able to resist!

Put away the bug spray and coat hangers, you can make s’mores crack dip any day of the week, rain or shine. To eat all to yourself or share with a crowd.

S’mores Dip Ingredients

  • 1 bag of chocolate chips or 4-6 chocolate bars (milk chocolate, dark chocolate or semi-sweet)
  • 30 marshmallows, a bag of mini marshmallows or 15 large marshmallows cut in half
  • graham crackers

Step One: Preheat the Oven

Adjust the rack to the center position of the oven and place an 8 inch cast iron skillet or other oven safe dish on the rack. Preheat the oven to 450°F with the skillet inside. Once oven is preheated, use a pot holder to remove the hot skillet from the oven

Step Two: Prep the Dip

Pour the chocolate chips in an even layer into the bottom of the skillet. If you’re using chocolate bars, break them up into pieces and spread them across the bottom of the skillet. Be careful not to burn fingers on the sides of the skillet! Arrange the marshmallows over the surface of the chocolate chips, covering the chocolate completely.

Step Three: Bake the Dip

Bake the dip for 5 to 7 minutes or until the marshmallows are toasted. I like mine a little extra toasted, so I left it in for 7 minutes. Watch it closely so it doesn’t overcook. Using oven mitts, carefully remove the skillet from the oven and serve!

Tips for Serving S’mores Crack Dip

You can serve the s’mores dip straight out of the skillet! I recommend letting the skillet sit for about 5 minutes before serving because it will continue melting the chocolate while it sits. It’s that easy. Just open up a package of graham crackers. Dip your graham crackers and enjoy! I recommend eating immediately before the chocolate and marshmallows harden. You can also serve with other types of cookies (Oreos are also amazing)!
