Anyone else a die-hard fan of Cup of Noodles? You know, the little styrofoam cup filled with dried noodles that you can live on for a whopping 0.55 Cents each!? I used to stock up on my Nissan Cup of Noodles (chicken or beef flavor) once a month when my dad would take me to Costco to use his card to stock up on essentials. Because there’s nothing a starving college student appreciates more than mass amounts of paper towels, frozen food & free samples.

We have a ton of of amazing Asian restaurants here in San Diego. When it comes to food, Thai, Vietnamese and Korean restaurants dominate here. Which got me thinking, there have to be a ton of ways to make an easy, cheap & undeniably tasty meal out of a Nissan cup. And believe it or not, I was right! You can transform a Cup of Noodles into a variety of Thai, Chinese, Korean or even Italian inspired dishes!

How to Upgrade Cup of Noodles

Alright, so first things first. Let’s start with my new favorite way to spice up a trusty Cup of Noodles. I turned a basic cup into a gourmet Broccoli Beef Noodle Bowl! Not only was it surprisingly easy to make, but it was super filling! You could easily make a few of them and serve them to friends or surprise a date with your fancy cooking skills.

So, What Do You Need to Buy?

  • 1 Cup of Noodles (I recommend going with Beef flavor)
  • 1 Package of Frozen Broccoli with Beef or Mongolian Beef (I made it for dinner the night before and used the leftovers in my Cup of Noodles)
  • 2 tablespoons of Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 green onion (sliced)

How to Make a Gourmet Cup of Noodles

To start, follow the directions on the Cup of Noodles package. You’ll boil water and let the noodles sit/cook while you prepare the rest of the recipe.

If you haven’t already cooked your Broccoli with Beef, now is the time to prepare it according to the directions on the package.

Once the noodles are ready, drain the liquid out. I use a colander and then put the noodles back in the cup. You can also put the noodles into a separate bowl if it’s easier.

Mix in your Broccoli Beef & teriyaki sauce.

Cook an egg, either over easy, medium, hard or soft boiled. I like mine over easy. To make one, you cook the raw egg just until the whites are set on the bottom, then you quickly flip it over to cook the other side. “Over” means your flip the egg, and “easy” means the doneness of the yolk. You can also cook eggs “over medium” and “over hard,” depending on how cooked you prefer the yolk.

Place the egg on top and garnish with green onion.

Enjoy! That’s all there is to it. It’s a great way to spice up your dinner and is more filling than your standard Cup of Noodles!
