Ok, so we’re in the home stretch and it’s almost Christmas. Some of us went shopping on Black Friday. Others are a bit more… delayed.

If you (like many of us) totally spaced out and forgot to buy someone (or everyone) gifts, you’re going to have to resort to a little creativity. So I’m going to share a super easy DIY gift you can make in less than an hour for under $10! You can make as many of them as you need presents and it literally takes almost no extra time!

These cookie tins are a great Christmas gift, but are also perfect for other holidays like Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, etc.! Let’s not waste any more time and get to making some Chic DIY Cookie Tins!

DIY Christmas Cookie Gift Boxes

I decided to make these fun DIY Cookie Gift Boxes this year after making a ton of extra cookies & buying way too many from Trader Joe’s! I didn’t want them to go to waste, so I decided to turn them into gifts for friends and family! Honestly, I love using spray paint to revamp old items (like our DIY black Christmas Tree ornaments)! I always keep a few cans of metallic and black spray paint in my craft arsenal for times like this. Instead of giving people cookies in the generic tins I’ve gotten from Amazon and Target, I wanted to turn them into something more special and chic! Not only do they make the gift look nice, but then people can use the tin after the fact.

What You Need

  • old cookie tins
  • gold spray paint (or any other color you like)
  • gold star confetti
  • glue
  • ribbon
  • store bought cookies or any homemade recipe
  • parchment paper

How To Make This DIY Gift Box For Cookies

  1. Take your cookie tins outside into a well ventilated area. Grab some newspaper or an old cardboard box to protect the area you’re using.
  2. Separate the lids from the cookie tins and place place them on the cardboard/newspaper. Spray paint the tins from about 10-12″ away. Spray in even strokes until the entire cookie tin is covered. If needed, let them dry for about 20 minutes and apply another level.
  3. Let the tins dry for at least an hour. One they’re dry, rinse them off with soap and water. Then dry them off before assembling your gifts.
  4. If you’d like, use some glue and apply stars to the lid. Let the glue dry before adding the  cookies.

To Complete Your Cookie Gift Box

Line the cookie tins with parchment paper and fill with cookies of your choice! You can either make homemade cookies (whatever you like), or buy them at the store if you’re looking for a quick fix. I really like the cookies sold at Trader Joe’s during the holidays. But you can always customize the assortment depending on what the recipient likes! Finish the gift by wrapping the cookie tins with a bow!
