CHRISTMAS CRACK SNACK MIX!
OK, I KNOW REFERRING TO SOMETHING AS “CRACK” IS WEIRD… BUT CHRISTMAS CRACK IS A CLASSIC HOLIDAY RECIPE. I GREW UP HAVING IT EVERY YEAR AND STARTED MAKING IT AS A KID (BECAUSE IT’S SUPER EASY).
THIS YEAR, I DECIDED TO MODIFY THE CLASSIC, FAMOUS CANDY RECIPE & MAKE IT A “SNACK MIX’. NOT ONLY DOES IT MAKE IT EASIER TO SHARE, IT’S JUST FUN!
SO WHETHER YOU’RE SPENDING THE HOLIDAYS ALONE AND NEED A SPECIAL TREAT FOR BINGE WATCHING MOVIES, OR WANT TO DELIVER SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER TO YOUR BESTIES DOOR, THIS IS THE RECIPE YOU NEED TO MAKE!
WHIP UP A QUICK & EASY BATCH (OR 5) OF MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS CRACK SNACK MIX!
WTF IS CHRISTMAS CRACK?
OK, SO IF YOU’VE NEVER HAD IT, CHRISTMAS CRACK IS KIND OF LIKE A LAZY RECIPE FOR TOFFEE.
It’S made with saltine crackers, coated in HOMEMADE toffee and topped with chocolate.
THAT’S LITERALLY ALL THERE IS TO IT. JUST 4 INGREDIENTS! IT’S BASICALLY FOOL PROOF.
SO WHY MAKE IT A SNACK MIX?
I DON’T KNOW? THERE’S JUST SOMETHING MORE FUN ABOUT SNACKS.
THAT WAY YOU CAN JUSTIFY EATING MORE? OR AT LEAST I DO! NOT TO MENTION THE MINIATURE SALTINE CRACKERS ARE JUST TOO CUTE!
THE BASIC RECIPE STILL APPLIES, YOU USE ALL OF THE SAME RATIOS AND INGREDIENTS. BUT IT TAKES LESS TIME AND YOU USE MINI CRACKERS INSTEAD OF THE NORMAL SIZED ONES!
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 1 PACKAGE OF MINI SALTINE CRACKERS
- 1 CUP OR 2 STICKS OF BUTTER, MELTED
- 1 CUP OF BROWN SUGAR
- 1 TABLESPOON OF VANILLA
- 1 CUP (MAYBE 2) OF MELTED CHOCOLATE DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH CHOCOLATE YOU WANT TO ADD – I LIKE USING MILK CHOCOLATE
OTHER HELPFUL TOOLS
- A BAKING SHEET
- PARCHMENT PAPER
- A LARGE BOWL
- SOMETHING TO STIR WITH
- MEASURING CUPS / SPOONS

i love making this saltine cracker toffee – especially in bite size form. a few other fun tips:
- if you don’t have parchment paper, use aluminum foil!
- if you’re not a chocolate fan, use melted peanut butter!
- i like using salted butter, but unsalted butter works great too!
- if you want more sweet than sweet and salty, try using white chocolate chips or graham crackers!
- if you like a little extra saltiness, ass a sprinkle of sea salt!
CHRISTMAS CRACK SNACK MIX!
Ingredients
- 1 CUP BUTTER, MELTED
- 1 CUP BROWN SUGAR
- 11 OZ MINIATURE SALTINE CRACKERS
- 1 TBSP VANILLA EXTRACT
- 2 CUPS CHOCOLATE CHIPS, MELTED
Instructions
- PREHEAT YOUR OVEN TO 350 F.
- MELT YOUR BUTTER, I LIKE TO MICROWAVE IT FOR 30 SECONDS AT A TIME.
- POUR THE BUTTER & BROWN SUGAR OVER THE SALTINES IN A LARGE BOWL. STIR TO COVER.
- LINE A BAKING SHEET WITH PARCHMENT PAPER FOR EASY CLEANUP. THEN POUR AN EVEN LAYER OF CRACKERS ONTO THE BAKING SHEET. YOU CAN DO MULTIPLE BATCHES IF NECESSARY.
- BAKE THE CRACKERS FOR 5-8 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THE MIXTURE STARTS TO BUBBLE.
- LET THE CRACKERS COOL & MELT YOUR CHOCOLATE CHIPS. I LIKE TO MELT MY CHOCOLATE CHIPS THE SAME WAY AS MY BUTTER, 30 SECONDS AT A TIME, STIRRING IN BETWEEN.
- USE A SPOON TO DRIZZLE CHOCOLATE ONTO THE CRACKERS.
- PLACE THE BAKING SHEET INTO THE REFRIGERATOR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THE CHOCOLATE HAS HARDENED. THEN, YOU CAN BREAK UP THE CRACKERS AND PUT THEM IN A BOWL FOR SERVING OR A BAG/AIRTIGHT CONTAINER.
