Jackson Hole Travel Guide
You guys know Tony & I love to travel. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten to explore a new place. This year we decided to take a trip to a place that’s always been on my bucket list: Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Jackson Hole is one of the most nostalgic locations of the American West. It got its name (originally Jackson’s Hole) by fur trappers and frontiersmen in the early 1800s. Since then, it’s been a gathering place for cowboys, dude ranchers, mountaineers and skiers.
Location wise, Jackson Hole is surrounded by the Teton and Gros Ventre mountains. It’s a great location to visit any time of year because the location is great for skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer.
There are luxury ski resorts, grazing bison and elk, beautiful hotels, amazing restaurants and everything else you can imagine.
Even though Jackson attracts a lot of wealthy tourists, it’s still the kind of spot where you can show up in cowboy boots at a fancy restaurant.
Where to Stay
We stayed at The Lodge at Jackson Hole and absolutely loved it!
It’s located about a mile from downtown Jackson. It’s an easy walk if the weather is decent. But the hotel offers a free shuttle service, making it easy to get in and out of town.
It’s a great location – close to the ski resorts, outdoor activities, shopping & restuarants. I absolutely loved the indoor/outdoor pool and spa. Plus, they have a spa if you want to relax!
The rooms are extremely comfortable & I love that the decor is kind of a “lodge theme”. They have an onsite bar & restaurant which is really convenient if you want to stay in. And they even offer a free breakfast buffet.
We didn’t use them, but the hotel also has a fitness center and laundry area.

TRAVEL TIPS
- Get ready for the altitude! The town of Jackson is above 6,200 feet and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Aerial Tram takes skiers and snowboarders to an elevation of 10,450 feet! Don’t forget to stay hydrated!
- If you’re traveling during the winter, make sure you pack accordingly. You’ll want to bring clothes that can be layered. Think a ski jacket and pants, waterproof boots with good grip for the ice, a hat, gloves and warm socks. I also recommend packing some lip balm and sunscreen!
- If you stay at The Lodge, you can use their free shuttle service. But you can also use taxis, Lyft or rent a car at the airport.
