Easy Cheesy Waffle Pizza Fries Appetizer Recipe
easy cheesy waffle pizza fries make the best snack!
So last week I stopped in at one of the most OVER THE TOP restaurants in San Diego. If you haven’t checked out the blog post, peep all of the mouth watering photos here. I got tons of questions asking if I was going to post the recipes for the dishes I tried at. Initially the thought hadn’t really crossed my mind. Until late one night when I started craving pizza fries. Since most of you guys don’t live in San Diego, you won’t know the glory that is pizza fries… unless I share my own version with you.
Which brings us to today. I spent hours slaving away in the kitchen perfecting this recipe…just kidding, it literally took me about 30 minutes total. The majority of the time was the fries baking in the oven, which left me with some free time to scroll through my Instagram. It’s not exactly the same as Funky Fries batch, but that’s probably because I didn’t fry my fries. You know, because it’s way healthier to bake them.
The Best Waffle Pizza Fries Recipe
Ok so the cool part about this recipe is that you don’t need any fancy ingredients or kitchen tools. I bought all of the ingredients from Target, which means you can literally buy them anywhere. If you break it down… you just need to get something to make the fries (aka frozen fries) & stuff to make the pizza (aka your toppings). If you can’t find waffle cut fries, it will taste perfectly amazing if you use a different cut. For those of you who haven’t had waffle fries, they’re basically just a crispy french fry that’s a criss cross shape. They serve as a great boat for pizza flavors.
How To Make Waffle Cut Pizza Fries
Ingredients
Directions
Preheat your oven according to the directions on the waffle fries package. Then, cook according the the directions. I recommend over cooking them for a few minutes to keep them crispy. That way you’re not eating soggy fries.
If you can’t find the waffle cut french fries, any type will work. You can even use tater tots! Just follow the directions and precook them.
Once your fries are ready, place them on a tin foil lined baking sheet. I recommend a quick layer of non-stick cooking spray as well. This makes clean up a lot easier.
Then, spread some pizza sauce on the fries. Don’t over do it or your fries will get soggy.
Sprinkle a decent amount of cheese (I did extra) and some pepperoni on top. You can totally add other pizza toppings depending on what you like. You can add garlic, onions, sausage, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, etc.
Heat in your oven for about 10 minutes, or until everything is melted at 400 degrees F.
These loaded fries are the perfect snack, game day recipe or party finger food for kids or adults! They’re a total crowd pleaser and really easy to make in large batches!
