GLAMPING GUIDE: VENTURA RANCH KOA GLAMPING CABINS
We took our first trip of 2020! Crazy how fast this year has flown by. We have been trying to find a way to get out of the house, but still socially distant to stay safe. what better way to get out and about than taking a glamping trip!?
glamping has to be one of my new favorite ways to travel: combine A little bit of luxury in a beautiful, relaxing, natural setting!
We took a long week off and drove up to central california. the first stop on our road trip: Ventura Koa!
GLAMPING GUIDE: VENTURA ranch KOA IN CALIFORNIA
AFTer doing some research on different locations, road trip options & routes, we decided to drive through central california.
first stop: ventura, california!
right now, one of the biggest priorities when traveling is finding safe, clean & socially distant options. which is why camping and glamping are so great.
koa: kampgrounds of america
before i get into all of the details of our trip, a little info on koa.
if you’re not familiar with koa, it stands for kampgrounds of america.
until our trip, i had no idea that koa campgrounds are more than just campgrounds or rv hookups. there are close to 500 koa campgrounds throughout north america, so i definitely recommend checking to find locations near you or where you’re hoping to travel.
ways to stay at koa
Tent Camping
If you’ve got camping gear, you can take your camping experience to the next level with a koa tent site.
they have everything you need from picnic tables & fire pits to clean bathrooms and showers.
rv sites
if you’ve got an rv, you’re ready for amazing amenities.
it doesn’t matter what kind of rv you have, they have beautiful, level sites with back-in or pull-thru options.
plus, you can even find rv sites with special private patios, furnished outdoor seating areas & an outdoor fire pit. Plus you have access to all of their other amenities.
glamping
we opted to go the glamping route (but i’m definitely considering an rv after our trip).
different koa locations have different glamping options. from cabins to more unique options like teepees, cabooses, yrts and airstreams.
we stayed in one of the deluxe cabins, which have all of the same features as a koa camping cabin plus extra luxe features like a private bathroom, kitchen, linens & wifi.

THE VENTURA RANCH KOA IS LOCATED ON A 76 ACRE SPACE, IN TH EMIDDLE OF VENTURA COUNTY. IT’S ABOUT 7 MILES BETWEEN SANTA PAULA AND OJAI, CALIFORNIA.

NO MATTER WHAT WAY YOU CHOOSE TO STAY, THERE ARE A TON OF FUN PERKS THAT ARE GREAT FOR ADULTS & KIDS.
THERE’S A BEAUTIFUL POOL, DOG PARK, CLIMBING WALL, WATERING HOLES, CLUBHOUSE & TRAILS FOR HIKING.
ONE OF THE MAJOR HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR TRIP: WILD PEACOCKS! THERE ARE DOZENS OF WILD PEACOCKS ROAMING THE GROUNDS. WE WOKE UP TO THEM ON THE PATIO, SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE!
NORMALLY, THEY EVEN HAVE A ZIPLINE AND JUMP PAD KIDS CAN USE! DURING “NON-COVID TIMES” THEY EVEN HAVE ACTIVITIES LIKE TIE-DYE KITS, MOVIES UNDER THE STARS, GEM MINING & CORNHOLE.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT FOR A VENTURA RANCH KOA GLAMPING TRIP, HERE ARE A FEW TIPS!
IF YOU’RE STAYING IN ONE OF THE GLAMPING CABINS, YOU’VE GOT ACCESS TO A FULL KITCHEN OR BBQ.
I RECOMMEND STOPPING IN SANTA PAULA ON YOUR WAY OUT. THERE IS A VON’S GROCERY STORE ABOUT 6 MILES AWAY THAT IS EASY TO STOP IN AT AND GRAB GROCERIES.
YOU CAN GRAB FOOD, DRINKS, ICE, FIREWOOD, ETC. BEFORE YOU HEAD TO YOUR CABIN.
THERE ARE SOME CABINS WITH FULL BATHS AND OTHERS THAT DON’T HAVE THEM – BE SURE TO DOUBLE CHECK THE TYPE OF CABIN YOU’RE BOOKING IF YOU WANT A PRIVATE BATHROOM & SHOWER.
IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN exploring the local area, THERE ARE A TON OF RESTAURANTS YOU CAN STOP AT. WE GOT TO GO LUNCH FROM THE DRAFT SPORTS BAR. THERE ARE EVEN A FEW LOCAL PIZZA SPOTS THAT WILL DELIVER PIZZA OUT TO YOUR CAMP SPOT IF YOU’RE HUNGRY!

I ALSO RECOMMEND CALLING BEFORE YOU VISIT FOR MORE INFORMATION ON CURRENT PROTOCOLS. WHEN WE VISITED, THEY ONLY HAD CABINS AND RV SITES AVAILABLE (TENT CAMPING NOT AVAILABLE) TO ADHERE TO CALIFORNIA COVID GUIDELINES.
