The Nightmare Before Christmas Tree – How to Make Your Own

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS TREE

Through the years, we’ve had an evolving Christmas tree and home decor style. What started as a “Punk Rock Christmas” has now evolved into a “Nightmare Before Christmas”!

We’re anything but traditional. I mean, we have the rest of our lives to “grow up”. That’s why we’ve skipped the muted aesthetic and opted to transform our house into Halloweentown! But I’m not talking about Halloween decorations, but a Sandy Claws inspired winter wonderland!

We have a fake christmas tree and I love it – not only does it save money, it’s so easy to put up and doesn’t make a mess. It came with lights already set up, so you don’t have to deal with that either! It also has the option to switch between multi colored and white lights – so if you change the theme of your tree, you don’t have to change the lights.

The main elements that pulls our tree together are the famous orange and black snakes – the ones that eat the presents in the movie. I also added some Tim Burton esque black and white striped ribbon and an assortment of black ornaments.

I got a giant life sized Jack Skellington to place on top instead of a tree topper. It’s honestly one of my favorite purchases because it looks like he’s about to steal our tree.

To set the scene, I also created a graveyard under and on the sides of the tree. I was inspired by the Haunted Mansion ride at Disneyland and how they decorate it during the holiday season. Using my halloween headstones & an assortment of bones and skeletons.
