Heart Shaped Pizza Recipe
Like a lot of my quote unquote “recipes”, this is more of a tutorial. It doesn’t take any true kitchen skills. And you don’t have to shop at any fancy stores for ingredients.
All you need are:
- ready made, store bought pizza crusts or pizza dough
- mozzarella cheese
- pepperoni slices
- tomato sauce (I like using marinara sauce for flavor)
- a heart shaped cookie cutter
- scissors
Before you start thinking this is some overly complicated recipe, trust me it’s not. If you’re ambitious, buy some pizza dough. If not, just buy the ready made, already cooked crust. You can even use tortillas to get the point across. Dare I say, making it a “healthier” pizza.
If you’re using pizza dough, just follow the directions on the package. You can either use your hands to morph it into heart shapes, or use a cookie cutter.
If you’re using ready to go crusts, using a heart shaped cookie cutter is the key to making easy heart shaped pizzas.
The trick to making heart shaped pepperonis is really simple – remember when you were a kid and you’d fold a piece of paper and cut a heart? Do the same thing with your pepperoni. Fold it in half and cut the shape of half of a heart. BOOM! You’ve got a perfect heart pepperoni.
You can also use turkey pepperoni or a vegan alternative. Same goes for the cheese, sauce & dough! Get creative! If you’re vegan, use dairy free cheese, pepperoni & dough. If you’re gluten free, opt for a gluten free pizza dough, cauliflower crust or tortillas (I love Siete brand). Not a fan of tomato sauce? Use alfredo or pesto sauce.
