Sausage & Broccoli Boursin Pasta – Easy 15 Min Recipe
You’ve probably heard of the viral feta pasta from tiktok, but did you know you can use another famous cheese to make pasta sauce? This is one of my favorite easy, 15 minute recipes you’ll want to add to your dinner rotation. Let’s make Sausage & Broccoli Boursin Pasta aka the new tiktok viral Boursin Cheese Pasta Recipe!
Easy Sausage & Broccoli Boursin Pasta
Have you ever tried Boursin cheese? It’s actually a brand of Gournay cheese. It’s a soft creamy that comes in different flavors. It’s similar in flavor & texture to cream cheese, but a lighter and crumblier.
The first Boursin flavor, which we’re using in this recipe, was Garlic and Fine Herbs. It was actually created in 1957 by François Boursin, a now famous cheese maker from Normandy. And was actually the first flavored cheese to be sold nationally in France.
Most of the time, you’ll see Boursin served as an appetizer at parties with bread and crackers, or ass a cheese option on a charcuterie board.
But you can also use it as the base of your pasta sauce! It’s a great starter ingredient for making an easy sauce that’s still packed with a ton of flavor, creamy & comes together quickly.
I like to add broccoli and Italian sausage to this pasta dish, but you can also scale it back and make a simple version with just pasta and cheese sauce. If you’re vegetarian, just leave out the sausage or use a vegan option! Gluten free? Use your favorite GF pasta!
Ingredients
1 lb pasta (I like using Orecchiette)
3 tbs olive oil
1 lb Italian sausage (I like using spicy Italian sausage)
4 cups broccoli (about 1 head cut into pieces)
3 tbs salted butter
2 packages of Boursin garlic & herb cheese
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tbs red pepper flakes
salt and pepper
Directions
Boil salted water and cook pasta al dente. Don’t forget to save at least 1 cup pasta water! I save a little extra and use it to reheat leftovers.
In a large pan over medium-high heat, cook your sausage & break up into bite sized pieces.
Cut broccoli into smaller pieces (unless it’s precut) & steam until tender. I prefer leaving it “al dente” as well because I like larger pieces. But you can make it softer and it will break up into smaller, soft pieces.
In a large pan, combine your cooked pasta & cheese. Stirring over low-medium heat until melted. Add about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of pasta water while stirring. Stir in olive oil & lemon juice.
Season with salt, pepper & red pepper flakes. Then stir in your cooked sausage & broccoli. Enjoy!
You can easily half this recipe for a smaller batch, or double it for a bigger group!
