Roadtrip: Eating Up the West Coast
So I’m sitting on my couch, bundled in blankets and sweats, drinking tea… and it’s like 90 degrees outside. I just got back from a week of traveling and am sick as a dog. Don’t you hate that!? I swear, every time I fly I get some nasty cold.
Last week, I spent some time traveling from LA all the way up to Seattle! While other girls are posting about their glamorous trips to Fashion Week in NYC, I was stuffing my face with cheeseburgers, donuts & all of the coffee I could get my hands on. Oh, and I literally wore the same outfit every day… super lazy!
I spent a few days in LA, working and hanging with friends before heading up to San Francisco!
It’s so weird being in my “home town” now after having moved to SD 3 years ago. I’ve gotta admit, as much as I love the bay, San Diego has my heart now. It was fun getting to walk around my ol’ stompin grounds and show my friends and boyfriend a bit of my old scene. We had some ammmmazing food at a restaurant called Hops & Hominy. If you’re ever near Union Square, check it out and be sure to try the Black Eyed Pea Fritters!
Now we’re getting the the really important part of my recap… VOODOO DOUGHNUT! Can you believe I’ve NEVER been here!? It’s kind of insane. We got into Portland fairly early in the afternoon, but the line was crazy. So I waited until around midnight to check it out. Pro Tip: They’re open 24 hours, so don’t waste your time waiting in the long ass line all day.
I was obviously overwhelmed by the amount of options. I have serious issues making decisions. Like to the point where I feel like crying haha. Luckily, my boyfriend stocked up about 20 different flavors for me so that I could take a little bite of each!
My favorite was the White Chocolate Oreo. Hands down. They were all amazing (do you see those Fruit Loops!?), but I maxed out after taking like 4 bites.
The last stop on our Tour de Food was Seattle. Everyone always talks about how amazing Seattle is, but I never really “got it”. Seattle is awesome. So many great restaurants and things to do. I was informed that going the Starbucks Reserve was “super touristy” but I didn’t care. I got an AMAZING Butterscotch Latte and am officially going to try to recreate the recipe now that I’m back home.
When we were walking around Pikes Place Market (you know, where the original Starbucks was, duh), we stumbled upon the most insane cheese shop. I literally died and went to dairy heaven. Like, my new dream in life is to retire and just have a cheese store. A cheese store where I can keep my hundreds of adopted puppies.
Did I mention how cute my boyfriend is… love being able to travel with him and explore the world together!
