Out Of This World Galaxy Donuts
Let’s talk donuts. Remember that one time I made Mint S’more Oreo donuts!? They are super tasty and fairly easy to make, but what if you could make donuts that aren’t fried in under 5 minutes? I like to make recipes that I can whip up in under 10 minutes and don’t require a ton of fancy ingredients.
I recently got an Air FryerΒ and the first thing that popped into my mind was, “can I make non-fried donuts in this bad boy”. Donuts are one of my favorite treats, but not something I indulge in very often. Because: fried. The cool thing about the air fryer is that you can cook your favorite foods that are normally fried, but with little or no oil.
Not only did I make super easy donuts… I made the most magical Galaxy Donuts ever! They’re totally out of this world (get it, haha) and super easy to make!
How To Make Air Fryer Donuts
Before we take our donuts to a new dimension, we have to get the base cooked. The best part of this recipe is that you literally don’t need to measure anything. All you need is biscuit dough! Literally, canned biscuit dough. They actually make some of the best donuts you’ll ever taste!
To make the biscuits magically transform into donuts, open a can of dough. I like using Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers biscuits. Separate them and use a bottle cap to cut holes out of the center of each biscuit. You don’t need to use an actual biscuit cutter, just grab the top off of any bottle!
Air fry the donuts at 350 F for about 5 minutes. I was able to fit 4 in at a time.
Remove them and let them cool off before frosting.
How to Make Galaxy Donuts
To make the galaxy glaze, combine 2 cups of powdered sugar and 4 tablespoons of milk (I used half and half, but you can use whatever you want). Stir it well. If it’s too thin, add more sugar. It should be fairly thick.
Divide the mixture into 4 small bowls. Then, add your choice of food coloring into each. To make a galaxy glaze I used blue, pink, black & green. I really like using neon food coloring because it makes everything pop. Most grocery stores don’t carry black food coloring, but you can find it online or at craft stores. Stir well and then scoop a little bit of each color glaze into a flat bottom bowl. Create the swirls by using a toothpick. Dip each donut into the glaze and gently swirl the top of the donut.
Place the donuts onto a wire rack to drip off the excess glaze. Sprinkle a little edible black glitterΒ and edible glitter starsΒ to finish them.
They’re so fun and easy to make! Nothing beats the taste of a fresh donut & these are the perfect shows topping recipe for your next party!
