Add a Fab Fur

Ok, we’ve all got a little black dress somewhere in the back of our closet. Which can feel kind of underwhelming. Solution? Add a faux fur jacket to make it feel extra fab. You can even throw your fur coat over black jeans, a black tank & some boots for a sleek new look. The great thing about starting with a basic black canvas is you can throw any color or pattern coat on top, there’s not screwing it up! My coat is from Lovers + Friends and I literally wear it with everything from band t-shirts to long dresses.

Throw On Some Sequins

A sequined blazer, jacket, top or even scarf can add a little extra new years spiciness to any outfit. Take that little black dress, or even a little black mini skirt & t-shirt and add some sparkle. You’ll be sure to stand out!

Add A Bold Belt & Lip

Don’t have a any fur or sequins? Grab a fun belt and add a bright lip color to your look! You can update any old dress with a fun belt and bright red or pink lip! I really like adding a chunky gold plated belt to a LBD for an easy update. Then, throwing on a fun lip color takes andy simple look to the next level!

Make A Statement With An Epic Necklace

Statement necklaces are one of my go to “I tried” pieces. You can literally throw them onto any outfit and look like you put a little effort in. I love throwing a statement necklace over a t-shirt and mini skirt for a casual look. If you’ve got a LBD, the necklace will take center stage. you can even throw a fun bag into the mix to spice up the look.

Get Fierce With Studs & Leather

One of my all time favorites… adding some studs and leather to any simple outfit. Take any dressΒ and throw on a leather jacket for an instant edgy update. I love any excuse to wear studded booties or heels, luckily they’re also a great statement piece when paired with a cute leather moto jackets and simple dress.

Work With Layers

Throw a slouchy knit sweater over your dress for a look that feels a little more like you’re wearing separates. Depending on the texture of your dress, you can either dress it up or down with a cute pair of tennis shoes or heels. Think: if you’re wearing something metallic or sparkly, throw on some tennies. If you’re wearing something simple like a black dress or a casual print, add some pumps.
