NINJA FOODI 101: EVERYTHING YOU need to know about the ninja foodi!
This post has been a long time coming. If you follow me on instagram, you know there are a few things I can’t live without. my nespresso machine, my kitchenaid mixer and my ninja foodi!
A while back I posted all of the reasons I love my Kitchenaid Mixer. And I’m sure I’ll do a dedicated love note to my Nespresso machine soon. But right now I want to focus on one of the most magical countertop appliances ever created!
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE NINJA FOODI!
Most people are torn between buying an Instant Pot & a Ninja Foodi. I used to have an Instant Pot & really liked it. But the Ninja is next level.
The Instant Pot and Ninja Foodi are the two most popular pressure-cooking multicookers. Meaning, they’re pressure cookers that also have a ton of other functions. They’re definitely not your grandma’s crockpot!
Are the Ninja FoodI & Instant Pot the Same Thing?
Instant Pot came first. They kind of invented the pressure cooking game.
But then Ninja came along and created a pressure cooker that does exactly what the Instant Pot does and a ton more. In my opinion, if you’re going to spend the money, the Ninja Foodi is hands down a better buy.
The Foodi can pressure cook, slow cook, sauté, steam, and air fry. It also has TenderCrisp technology, which is a combination of pressure cooking and air frying that allows you to rapidly cook ingredients and finish it off with a crispy texture.
It basically eliminates the need to have three separate appliances for slow cooking, pressure cooking & air frying. It’s also a great “one stop shop” for creating one pot meals.
EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT THE NINJA FOODI
Cooking with the Foodi is pretty much foolproof. Whether you want to make a roast that falls apart with a poke of your fork, or heat up some crispy frozen chicken strips.
It’s easy to use for a range of different entrees, sides, desserts or whatever else you can think to make. Even if you’re not a professional or following the included recipe guide, it’s really easy and intuitive to use.
This is the exact model I have, the 10-in-1 Foodi. Here’s what it can do:
- Pressure Cook
- Slow Cook
- Steam
- Make Yogurt
- Sear / Saute
- Air Fry
- Bake / Roast
- Broil
- Dehydrate
- Keep foods Warm
This model fits up to a 5 lb chicken or 6 lb roast. And you can air fry up to 3 lbs of hand cut french fries!
Honestly, it’s rare that I turn my oven on anymore and use my Foodi for a lot of recipes I’d normally cook over the stove. It’s easier, faster and way less to clean up!
The 6.5 quart cooking pot and 4.6 quart Cook & Crisp Plate are both nonstick and dishwasher safe. Here are a few of the Ninja Foodi options you can buy – you can buy a few different sizes with varying functions:
My Favorite Foodi Accessories
This baking kit is great for whipping up recipes you would normally bake in the oven. The crisper pan is great for pizzas, quesadillas & vegetables. The multi purpose pan is perfect for baking cakes & casseroles. And the loaf pan is a great way to make bread!
Want to make wings in the air fryer? The steam boss grill rack is an accessory that lets you air fry wings or drumsticks upright, which allows the heat to be evenly distributed.
One of my favorite finds is this silicone lid – which seems kind of pointless when you look at the picture. But it basically creates an airtight, spill proof seal on your inner pot, so you can directly store your leftovers! I love this, especially when I’m making soups! Just pop the lid on and put the pot in your fridge!
A backup or replacement pot. I like having a second pot in case one is dirty, I’m making a few recipes or I’m using one to store food.
These cheat sheets are great when you’re just getting started. They’re great for figuring out cooking times for different recipes.
A cute little minion pressure release accessory. I use this to divert the hot steam away from my cabinets.
