Meet My BFF: Doug the Dog!

Doug the Dog

It’s really weird that I’ve never done a post introducing my best friend yet. Like, how can I be so obsessed with something and not have shared it in blog form?! I’d like to formally introduce you to my best friend, fur baby & all around favorite furson – DOUG the dog.

As many of you know, I’m not just mildly obsessed with my Doug. It’s full blown. We spend 24 hours a day together and I honestly don’t know what my life would be like without him. Since the very first day my boyfriend and I moved to San Diego, I started harassing him about getting a dog. I slowly whittled him down and convinced him that it was a good decision. Mainly because I spend so much time alone when he’s gone. I needed a furry friend to chat with and share my meals with.

Doug was born in August 2015. We don’t know much about his “birth story”, but he’s a Cavachon – meaning one of his birth parents (because we’re obvi his adopted parents) is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel & the other is a Bichon. We got him when he was about 3 months old (just before Thanksgiving). His fur was insane and I was instantly obsessed.

I spend most of my time with Doug. Because I work from home, he’s basically my secretary. He screens my calls and makes sure I always have a fresh pot of coffee. He travels with me, he goes to breakfast with me, he sleeps with me… we’re BFF’s! If you’re not already following his adventures on Instagram, be sure to say hi! I swear he’s not completely over life and just looks pissed off in pictures!

Some of his favorite things include – Bacon, treats of any kind, his giant cheese (Himalayan dog chews), dryer balls, human food that drops on the floor, his frisbee, going on walks, attention of any kind, licking human hands, the mailman (aka his best friend), looking out the window and waiting for the mailman, naps, hiding his toys in his teepee, chewing on paper, sleeping on pillows, playing with his friends, running in figure eights, growling and barking at feet, his best friend Chewbacca (his oldest toy), playing fetch on the stairs, ice cubes, carrots, being “over everything”, sticking his head out the car window, chasing bikes and going to the park to sniff other dogs.
