Majorly Fetch Mean Girls Toaster Strudel Recipe

“On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was”…

Those were the words spoken by Cady Heron to Aaron Samuels on that monumental day, and so, one of my favorite holidays was born. Today is Mean Girls Day!!!!

If you haven’t watched Mean Girls, I don’t even have words… just go watch it.

In the classic movie, Cady is sitting in Ms. Norbury’s math class (snaps for Tina Fey for being a bad bitch), behind mega babe Aaron Samuels. Cady had just gotten Regina George’s “blessing” to go after him, after finding out that Regina and Aaron had dated. And on that day, Aaron asked Cady what day it was… to which she replied “It’s October 3rd”. And hence forth, October 3rd has been signified as, MEAN GIRLS DAY!

Okay, but in all seriousness. As a major shout out to my fave high school movie, I present a recipe for Toaster Strudel. Keep reading for the majorly fetch recipe and inspo!

Majorly Fetch Mean Girls Toaster Strudel Recipe

I know, stop trying to make fetch happen.

But really, Gretchen Wieners is a total icon. Not only did she get a really expensive pair of white gold hoop earrings for Hanukkah, but she also couldn’t help that people were so jealous of her. She couldn’t help it that she was popular.

Did I even mention… Gretchen’s dad invented Toaster Strudel???

While you won’t lose 3 pounds eating them, they’re majorly tasty. I mean… Taco Bell level delish.

I picked up Jonathan Bennet (aka THE Aaron Samuels) and Nikki Martin’s cookbook a while ago and thought it was that October 3rd was the perfect occasion to tackle and share one of their Mean Girls recipes. The Burn Cookbook is filled with real recipes to feed your inner plastic. It’s literally the ultimate girls cookbook. A few of my favorite recipes:

There are literally so many fun recipes, complete with Mean Girls-esque commentary, Burn Book inspired doodles & a ton of cute pictures.

But like I said, today is all about Gretchen Wiener’s Toaster Strudels. I modified the recipe slightly, just because I didn’t want to buy a ton of ingredients. But if you want the longer, more detailed recipe, definitely pick up the cookbook!

Ingredients

3/4 cup strawberry jam
1 jar of vanilla frosting
2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
red food coloring
pink sprinkles (optional)

Directions

Set your oven to 425 F.
Lay our one sheet of your puff pastry and cut it into 4 rectangles. Scoop a large spoonful of jam in the middle of one end of each piece. Fold those beauties in half and seal like a love letter with a solid 80s crimp using a fork. Repeat with the remaining puff pastry.
Place the strudels on a baking sheet and bake for a bout 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
While they’re baking, heat your frosting in the microwave for 30 seconds. I remove the tinfoil and throw the whole thing in to soften it up. Then, add a few drops of red food coloring and stir until it’s the perfect shade of plastic pink.
Remove your strudels and let them cool for about 5 minutes before drizzling. Pour your frosting into a small plastic bag and snip a small corner off with scissors. Drizzle the strudels with icing. Let the icing set for about 30 minutes before eating!

As noted in the cookbook, if you’re a “high maintenance beyotch”, you can substitute with GF/vegan dough and any flavor jam.
