How to Throw Girls’ Night on a Budget

How to Throw Girls' Night on a Budget

So it’s Thursday night and you can’t decide what to do with your weekend. Why not throw an epic girls night!? I read somewhere that experts say that friendship literally makes you healthier (not just happier). It increases your life span, boosts your immune system and can be a great outlet after a long week!

Sometimes, being on a tight budget means we can’t always afford to go out and party with everyone. I mean, going out to the movies or for dinner and drinks can add up. So instead of blowing through your savings account, why not host a girls night at your place?! Instead of breaking the bank, I’ve rounded up a ton of inexpensive ideas!

Gather the Gang, It’s Girls’ Night

Now that I’m living in the real world, it can be really hard to find a day and time that works to hang out with everyone. That doesn’t even include trying to figure out a plan that everyone agrees on. Most of the time, we end up doing the same things, going to the same restaurants or hanging out at the same bars. SNOOZE. And like I mentioned, it can be totally draining (literally and emotionally) when you spend a bunch of money all in one night. So sometimes, it’s easy to want to bail on girl time in order to save some money.

Alright, the first step in saving money is staying in. I know, boo… it sounds so boring. But just because you’re staying home on a Friday night doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time with your girls! Skip the lines and cover charges and opt for a relaxing night hanging at home with your ladies!

One of the easiest girl’s night ideas is to have a movie marathon. The best part? You guys can binge on chick flicks! Gather up all of your favorite Ryan Gosling movies and cover your living room in pillows and blankets! You and your friends can cozy up on the couch and stream movies on Netflix while snacking on popcorn and candy! I recommend having everyone bring a box of their favorite candy and spreading it all out on the coffee table to share!

DIY Spa Party

What better way to spend a night in than pampering yourself?? Grab some face masks, nail polish and light a bunch of scented candles. Check out my DIY Spa Day post for other ideas! If you want to get really fancy, whip up a batch of glittery champagne jello shots to toast your babes.

Wine & Cheese Night

A personal favorite, wine and cheese are one of my favorite combos. Any excuse to eat them for dinner and I’m on board. Not to mention you can create a really inexpensive cheese plate that looks super fancy. I put this cheese plate and dessert bar together for $35! The trick is in the presentation. I like to use a wood cutting board for my meats, cheeses & snacks. Also, I like to use cake stands to make store bought cupcakes and cookies look a little fancier! To take things to the next level, I picked some flowers from our garden and added them to the plates for decoration. Grab a few cheap bottles of rosé and you’ve got a real party!

Craft Party

Nothing says girls’ night like a little DIY project! Maybe you have some projects pinned that you’ve been dying to try, or have some ambitious ideas that you need your friends help with! Crafts are always easier when you have an extra set of hands! If you’re trying to save money, have your friends bring over some old t-shirts and revamp them as choker t’s!

Clothing Exchange

Another fun way to spend girls’ night without spending a ton of money is having a clothing exchange! The best part is you go home with some free new outfits. Have your friends bring over some of their lightly worn clothes, shoes & accessories and have an outfit swap. It’s a really fun way to shop your friend’s closets and update your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
