My easy homemade pita chips recipe super simple and you’ll end up with the best snack! You can also customize the flavor with tons of different spices and seasonings. I make a batch every week and keep them on hand to use as a tasty late night snack. They’re also great for serving with your favorite cheeses, dips and salsas.

Since I shared Skinny Artichoke Jalapeno dip recipe, I’ve been getting a ton of questions about how to make homemade pita chips. Because every good dip needs a good chip!

Homemade pita chips are easy to make, and you can use them in tons of different ways. They’re great on their own. But even better with a dip. I even substitute them for croutons in my salads.

How to Make Pita Chips 

  1. My homemade pita chips use three main ingredients: pitas (wheat or white pita cut into small pieces or triangles), some cooking spray (I like avocado oil spray), and seasoning.
  2. You can use whatever seasonings you like. I used garlic salt & onion powder. They’re two seasonings I always have on hand and use in almost every recipe.
  3. Grab a baking sheet and spray it with your cooking spray. Cut your pitas into small triangles or slices. Then, arrange your pita triangles on the baking sheet. Make sure none are overlapping. Spray the tops of the the slices with more cooking spray. Give the chips a few shakes of each seasoning.
  4. Bake for about 5-10 minutes at 400 F. I like mine extra crispy, so I usually leave mine in for about 10 minutes.

Tips for the Best Homemade Pita Chips

What kind of pita bread should I use? 

You can use any kind of pita bread you want. I like wheat pita pockets. You can either split them in half for crispier, thin chips. Or keep them as is for a thicker chip.

How Should I cook them?

I recommend baking on high heat – either 400 F or 425 F. As always, make sure you’re using a preheated oven. You can also use an air fryer though! You just want to get that nice golden brown color!

How do I store my pita chips?

Don’t cover your chips or put them in storage containers until they are completely cooled (room temperature). As they cool, they will get crispier too. Once they’ve cooled completely, you can store them in airtight containers or bags for up to a week. Serve with your favorite dips or eat alone!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 F.
  • Cut your pitas into triangles or small slices.
  • Grab a baking sheet & spray a thin layer of cooking spray. Then, lay your pita slices out, making sure they don't overlap.
  • Spray the pita slices with cooking spray. Sprinkle with garlic salt & onion powder.
  • Bake for 5 – 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Remove & let cool before serving or storing.
