How To Throw A Kickass Fiesta Themed Party
Are you looking for a kickass way to celebrate? Maybe you have a birthday coming up, are throwing an engagement party or just want an excuse to have all of your friends over! Why not do it with tacos!? Yea, let’s taco bout’ celebrating with a few micheladas, tacos & some epic guacamole.
Set the Mood
One of the best ways to set the mood for a party is with decorations! I am a huge decorator. We literally have storage boxes towering in our closet filled with decorations for every possible holiday and theme party. I’ve spent the past few years stocking up on decorations and our fiesta themed box is definitely my favorite. All of the colorful decor sets such a fun mood.
You don’t need to have a ton of space to set up your party. Just think cantina style: bright colors, woven placemats, vibey candles & twinkle lights. You can even throw up some old Christmas lights! I like to use old food cans as candle holders. Just peel the logo off and throw some votives in!
If you REALLY want to step up your game, you can even make my DIY Painted Beer Bottles! So I recommend using Corona bottles because they’re clear. I get so many questions about them whenever we have a party or I post about them. Honestly, they’re SO easy to make. I love using them as fun decor throughout my parties. You can even throw some flowers in them for a little extra ambiance!
Create the Menu
I feel like feeding people was my true calling in life. So I tend to go overboard when it comes to creating a party menu. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend hours creating dishes. My go to recipe is my famous Southwestern Guacamole! It’s so easy and a major crowd pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 can of black beans (drained)
- 1 tomato (chopped)
- 2 cups or one can of defrosted frozen corn (I like using roasted sweet corn)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 1 bunch of cilantro (chopped)
- 5 avocados
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 lime
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Cut your avocados in half and use a spoon to scoop the inside out and into a bowl. Use two forks, mash up the avocado. Then, add your beans, corn, onion, cilantro and tomato. Stir it well, then juice your lime directly into the guacamole. Finish by adding your garlic powder & salt & pepper to taste. Serve with chips or as a side with your tacos!
Other Awesome Fiesta Recipes:
We like to grill up a ton of carne asada and pollo for our parties. It’s a really easy and fun way to get the party started and let everyone make their own tacos, burritos or nachos! We put all of the fixings out on our kitchen island or a table and let everyone make their own food and graze as they want! You can also try these recipes:

Most of the time, we have a ton of beers and pre mixed margaritas for our our guests. But recently I started making micheladas too! A michelada is kind of like Mexico’s version of a bloody mary! It’s refreshing and super flavorful! But instead of vodka, you use beer!
Ingredients
-
- Tajín or a chili-salt blend
-
- one half lime per drink
-
- 1 cup of tomato juice (I like Clamato)
-
- 1 teaspoon of hot sauce (optional to taste)
-
- A single can or bottle of light Mexican beer (like Modelo, Pacífico, Tecate, Victoria, or Corona)
Directions
Using your lime, rub a bit of lime juice on the rim of a large glass. I recommend pouring a bit of your Tajín in a shallow dish, then dip the glass into it to line your glass rim. Put some ice into the glass and pour your tomato juice & hot sauce in. Then squeeze your lime in. If you want serve your drink with the bottle in it, make sure to leave about half of the glass empty.
I like to serve my drink with over the top garnishes! The ones I recently made have taquitos, jerky bites, stuffed olives and pickled hot peppers! You can get creative here! Just cut your snacks into bite sized pieces and put them on a toothpick!
