Sleepless In Seattle: A Beginner’s Guide To Seattle
One of my all time favorite cities to visit is Seattle. It could be that the weather reminds me a lot of my home town of San Francisco. Or, maybe I just like that there are about 5 coffee shops on every corner! More often than not, I end up linking up with Tony while he’s on tour in Seattle. Usually it’s towards the beginning or end of a tour, so it’s an easy way to buy a one way flight and hop on on the tour for a visit. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back.
So, if you’ve never been to Seattle, here’s the rundown… everything you need to know before your first trip. Also known as, a “beginners guide to Seattle”! Because of the copious amounts of coffee and activities you can pack in, you won’t be getting a lot of sleep. But it’s totally worth it!
A Beginner’s Guide To Seattle
The last few times we’ve visited Seattle we’ve stayed at the same hotel. Hotel Max is hands down one of my favorite hotels in the country. Primarily because it feels very familiar and reminds me of home, but way edgier and cooler.
Let me start by saying Hotel Max has one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle attached to it. Miller’s Guild not only serves up amazing breakfast, lunch & dinner, but you can also order room service from them! The restaurant feels like someone ultra-cool designed it, like the type of person you really want to become friends with. It’s got a custom-made 9 foot long grill in the center of it, where they cook up a ton of awesome wood-fired concoctions. For being ultra-cool, it’s still comfortable and doesn’t feel stuffy.
A second very important note: the have complimentary craft beer every night from 5:30 – 6:30 in the lobby of the hotel! Yay, free drinks! Speaking of the lobby, I love that they have a ton of games and comfy couches with coffee tables to hang out at. It’s also decorated with a ton of cool art & musical instruments. Very us.
I also have to mention how insanely surprised I was to walk into our room to find framed Buffy the Vanmpire Slayer (SMG era) next to our bed. Was it coincidence? Did they know about my fanfic obsession? I’ll never know, but it made our stay that much greater. The rooms and hallways have modern decor and art, with a kind of Don Draper vibe. The mini bar was also stocked with some awesome snacks, drinks & specialty treats.
Hotel Max is the perfect destination/starting point/home base for a trip to Seattle. It’s walking or a quick Uber away from all of the best shopping, restaurants & sights to see.
There are so many fun things to do, places to eat & activities to jump into when you’re in Seattle. Rain or shine, there are so many options! To get you started, I came up with a bucket list of my top 20 recommendations of things to do when you’re in Seattle! You can even save the image and keep it on your phone for reference!
