Ice cream is so hard for me to resist. To be honest, most desserts are. I’m also obsessed with anything that says “cake batter”, “funfetti” or “birthday cake” flavor. If you’ve got a sweet tooth and have been to Coldstone, you know it’s a downhill battle once you start adding toppings. My go to order is ALWAYS Birthday Cake Remix. Their signature creation comes with cake batter ice cream, rainbow sprinkles, brownie & fudge. Literally a party in a cone (or cup).

These types of ice cold, sweet treats are a necessity for me in summer. I love cooling off with a popsicle or a milkshake. Unfortunately, they’re generally not very healthy. I’m all about treating myself and eating desserts in moderation, but when BSN collaborated with Coldstone on a line of ice cream inspired protein powders, I knew I had to make a healthy, summer inspired recipe to share with you guys!

This recipe will work with any protein powder, but I highly recommend using one of the BSN x Coldstone Flavors. They also make Germanchökolätekäke Mint Mint Chocolate Chip flavors.

Why Use Protein Powder?

Generally speaking, desserts are packed with sugar, fat & calories. When you use a protein powder, you can make them with no additional sugar and can also make them low carb, low fat, gluten free & vegan. The BSN protein does have egg, milk, soy, and wheat in it though, so if you’re looking for a protein powder for a specific diet, I recommend browsing other options. Meaning they taste great but are low guilt! The BSN line of protein powders have 22 grams of protein per serving, plus essential amino acids. I really like it because it’s a great pre or post workout protein powder for building lean muscle, as well as assisting with  muscle recovery. Not to mention it tastes great (it’s not gross and chalky like a lot of powders)

How to Make Protein Powder Popsicles

What You’ll Need:

Directions

  • In a large protein shaker bottle, or a blender, combine 2 scoops of protein powder with 2 cups of Almond Milk. If you’re gong to add coffee creamer, add about 1 tablespoon.
  • Using your shaker bottle (or blender), shake the mixture until the protein powder dissolves and combines.
  • Pour your protein shake into the molds, leaving about 1/4 inch at the top. The popsicles will expand as they freeze. If you want your popsicles to be extra colorful, you can add a pinch of rainbow sprinkles.
  • Freeze your popsicles for at least 4 hours. Then, remove them from the freezer when you’re ready to eat! To remove from the popsicle mold, place the mold in warm water for about 15 – 20 seconds. This should help it come loose.

If you make the popsicles using only Almond Milk + Protein Powder, they’re only about 45 calories each with about 8 grams of protein! These are the perfect low calorie workout treat!
