5 Must Experience Whistler Adventures
Ok, so I recently posted about the beginning of our trip to British Columbia. Including our stay at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, as well as the Fairmont Chateau in Whistler. Since then, I’ve gotten a ton of questions about recommendations of things to do in Whistler. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw our zipline adventure! So I thought I’d share my top 5 recommendations of Whistler adventures!
5 Must Experience Whistler Adventures
First things first, before you book you need to head over to the Tourism Whistler website. They have everything and anything you can think of with information on all things Whistler. You can find places to stay, things to do, events, routing, weather & even up to date news on the area. We booked all of our activities with them and The Adventure Group.
Whistler Zipline Tour
Ok, first things first, let’s talk about the zipline tour. It’s probably my most recommended activity if you’re going to be in Whistler, no matter what time of year it is. When you book a zipline tour through Superfly Ziplines, you get to fly through the forrest on an epic high wire adventure. Even better? No skill or experience needed.
Since we visited in winter, we got the chance to fly through a winter wonderland on one of the coolest treetop adventures. We soared across the mountain valleys and through old growth forests on four different dual ziplines. That means you get to ride next to someone. It was really cool because Tony & I got to ride next to each other through the whole course. They have Canada’s longest ziplines, spanning over a kilometer long and 600 feet high. We flew through the trees and snow at over 100 km/hour.
We went for a later tour, so it was a bit chilly as the sun was going down. I highly recommend wearing your ski clothes to stay warm. And if you have them, definitely bring gloves & goggles!
Scandinave Spa
You guys know how I feel about spas. And Scandinave Spa in Whistler is NEXT LEVEL. It’s an age-old Finnish tradition, where you soak in soothing outdoor baths. The spa is set in the mountains in the most secluded, tranquil setting. From there, you can either book a massage or just enjoy the baths.
The baths are outdoors, but open year round. When we visited, it was snowing & so incredibly relaxing. The spa is based on hydrotherapy, which is a great way to release any tension in your mind or body. It’s a cycle of hot-cold-relax that energizes and relaxes your body, and improves your blood circulation. It also activates your lymphatic system to help detoxification and promotes the release of endorphins.
I recommend going later in the afternoon, after a long day of skiing or even after your zipline trip!
Yukon Breakfast Snowmobile Tour
Ok… so stay with me now… what if you could ride a snowmobile to the top of a mountain and have a traditional Canadian Breakfast in a picturesque cabin, just waiting for you to feast on? It’s a real thing guys!
Wake up and hop on your very own snowmobile to carve your way through the remote British Columbia backcountry. You’ll end up in a rustic cabin on Sproatt Mountain for a complete Canadian Yukon breakfast, cooked over an old fashioned wood stove in a skillet! You’ll get to indulge in Canadian bacon, Yukon gold potatoes, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, sautéed onions and bell peppers. The best part? Pancakes with REAL maple syrup!
Whistler Dog Sledding
What better way to spend your day than some mountain mushing!? Head over to the Callaghan Valley and go on one of Canada’s times traditional adventures: dogsledding. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can move from the seat into the musher’s runners and learn how to harness and stage the dogs, as well as the commands and how to handle the sled. Not only is it totally fun and action packed, it’s a great way of taking in the scenery!
Gondola & Lunch
Hitch a ride on the Whistler Gondola for lunch at Garibaldi Lift Co. Bar & Grill. What makes this restaurant so unique is that it’s literally at the top of the gondola and overlooks the base of Whistler Mountain. It’s a great spot pares-anything. Whether you had a long day skiing or just want to relax and take in the view. Depending on the time of year, you can even catch live music. The GLC describes their menu as “epicurean hedonism”. Let’s just say they have everything from epic nachos to an infamous appetizer referred to as “sex-cheese”
