Do you want to live that champagne life on a wine cooler budget? Same, girl. Same.

Fun fact, did you know that the majority of “champagne” you see at the grocery store isn’t actually champagne? It’s just sparkling wine! It has to be from the Champagne region of France (aka fancy as f*ck) to be considered real champagne.

Most of us aren’t looking to spend $200 on a bottle of champagne. Let’s just get that out in the open. As boujie as it feels to ball out and spend a bunch of $$$ on a fancy bottle for NYE or a special occasion, it’s more likely I’ll end up with a bottle of 2 buck chuck. I know, so embarrassing right? WRONG. I’m here to make all of your champagne dreams come true. Not only are my glittery champagne bottles a super kira kira worthy decoration, your friends will be too distracted by how chic and sparkly they are to even notice how much you spent! How to glitter a champagne bottle - Veuve Clicquot How to glitter a champagne bottle & Veuve Clicquot

Glitter champagne bottles are literally THE perfect New Years Even decoration. They’re sparkly, gold and you can even carry them around all night topping people’s drinks off. People will be asking to take pics with you all night — hello Insta worth accessory.

They’re super easy to make and you can make a ton at once. I made a few of them to give to friends for NYE gifts. As I was making them, I started brainstorming all of the different color combinations I could make to use for birthday parties, bridal showers and bachelorette parties.

What You Need

  • Bottle or Bottles of “Champagne”: If you’re under 21, you can use sparkling apple cider bottles too! I used Cook’s Brut for my bottles, but you can use whatever you want (or whatever is on sale)!
  • GLITTER!!!: I used gold glitter for NYE, but you can use any color you want! You can also use a combination of colors or textures.
  • Gold Star Confetti: This step is optional, but I like adding a few gold stars along the edge of the foil wrapper.
  • Mod Podge: I recommend using mod podge because it dries fast and clear.
  • A Paint Brush: You don’t need anything fancy, just a craft paint brush that you don’t mind ruining.
  • Clear Acrylic Sealer: Technically, you can use the mod podge, but I think it’s easier to use a spray sealer. It also keeps all of the glitter in tact.

*I recommend laying out some newspaper (I used wrapping paper) on your work surface. Not only will it keep the glue from ruining anything, glitter can be a pain to clean up. You can get all of the items at your local craft store or on Amazon.

How To Glitter A Champagne Bottle

Step One

The first step is painting your bottle. And by painting I mean covering it in glue. I found it easier to just squeeze the glue directly onto the bottle. Then, using the paint brush I evenly covered the bottle in a layer of glue. Make sure it’s an even layer so you don’t get clumps. Cover the entire bottle except for the tin foil/neck.

Step Two

Sprinkle your glitter evenly around the bottle. I held mine at an angle and rotated it while shaking the glitter on top. Shake the bottle off and look for spots that are missing glitter or need a little extra. If you need to add more glue, you can add a layer to the spots with less glitter.

If you want, you can also add gold stars along the edge of the foil. Using the end of your paint brush, put a little mod podge on the back of a star and place on the bottle. You’ll have to be careful when layering them because it takes a few minutes for them to dry.

Step Three

Take your bottle outside and spray with the acrylic sealer. I recommend doing this outside because it’s pretty stinky. You also don’t want to get it on any of your furniture or floors. Keep the nozzle about a foot away from the bottle and spray/rotate the bottle to get even coverage. Let it dry for about 2-3 minutes and add another layer.
