Lazy Girl’s Guide: DIY Easy Mac & Cheese Recipe
The other night I walked to the grocery store for a late night snack. I spotted some Easy Mac and literally jogged home to pop it in the microwave. Excitement is an understatement, I love cheese and I love carbs. Cheesy pasta in under 5 minutes!? YES PLEASE!
When I went to eat my “meal” I was incredibly disappointed with the portion. It was literally 3 bites worth of Macaroni. I looked at the side of the bowl to realize not only is it filled with an insane amount of calories, but I didn’t even recognize most of the ingredients.
So began my quest for a healthier, more substantial Easy Mac. Oddly enough… it’s just as easy to make your own DIY version.
Here’s what you need:
– 1/3 Cup Noodles (I chose shells, but you can use whatever makes you happy)
– 1/4 Cup of Water
– 1/3 Cup Cheese (I went with Sharp Cheddar, but again… use whatever puts a smile on your face)
– A splash of Milk
Pour your noodles, water & milk into a microwave save mug or bowl. Pop them into the microwave for 3 minutes. While your cup is cooking, grate your cheese or get your cheese ready! After 3 minutes, check your noodles and stir. Pop them back in for 2 more minutes. That’s a total of 5 minutes!
Once they’re done, add the cheese! Stir well and add some salt & pepper (if you want).
That’s it! You’ve got your own personal cup of Easy Mac! Way more filling and delicious then the store bought kind. Not to mention a lot cheaper!
