Beeramisu: It’s like Tiramisu… but with Beer!
Does anyone else dream of traveling, irut mainly for all of the different types of food and ability to justify eating anything that crosses your plate? Because “you’re on vacation” is my favorite excuse to justify most choices I couldn’t on a typical day. Ice cream for breakfast? Oh, why not… I’m on vacation! Daiquiris at 10 AM? There’s fruit in them, which is basically like breakfast and… I’m on vacation!
One of my #GoalVacations for the year is Belgium. Chocolate, Waffles & Beer! Woohoo! Ok, so I don’t know a lot about beer (I’m a chocolate and waffle connoisseur). I only know what I like & don’t like. But, one of my faves is Gulden Draak 9000 because it tastes like malted caramel (mmm dessert). Also, not to get too technical, but Gulden Draak translates to Golden Dragon… meaning I can get my inner Daenerys Targaryen on while drinking it.
I have a ton of Pinterest boards dedicated to traveling: where I want to go, where I want to stay, what I want to eat, what I should pack. As I was pinning #DreamFoods the other day, I stumbled upon something I’d never heard of: Beeramisu. Hmm, I thought to myself… so what they’re saying is that instead of liquor and coffee, you drink your beer in cake form? Obviously it had my attention. I started searching and stumbled upon a few recipes. Most of them called for a ton of recipes and steps. And you know, I’m pretty lazy. If it takes more than 20 minutes or I have to do things in stages, I usually give up and just start eating the dough raw. So, I made it my mission to create a super simple Biramisu. I didn’t want to have to go to any fancy grown up stores to buy the ingredients either.
I also realized it was the perfect time to utilize my Gulden Draak supply in a recipe! Literally making it a dessert! It turned out rich, fluffy & filled with Dragon Beer! Whip up a batch & eat it while watching some Game of Thrones!!
What you’ll need:
1 Cup of Mascarpone (soft)
1/4 Cup of Powdered Sugar
1/2 Cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
1 Cup of Golden Draak 9000
1 Box of Ladyfingers
Cocoa Powder
Step One: In a medium sized bowl, mix the Mascarpone & Powdered Sugar.
Step Two: Using a stand mixer or electric mixer, whip the Heavy Whipping Cream until stiff peaks form (about 3 minutes).
Step Three: Combine your Mascarpone & Whipping Cream.
Step Four: Pour the beer into a shallow dish or bowl. Dip your ladyfingers into the beer for a second or two.
Step Five: Layer the ladyfingers in a small glass or jar, making sure they form a tight layer. Spoon a layer of Mascarpone Topping & sprinkle some cocoa powder. Repeat until you’ve used half of your ingredients. You should have enough to make 2 Beeramisu Cups! Refrigerate for at least 10 hours before serving!
