HOW TO MAKE THE FAMOUS DOT’S PRETZELS AT HOME

An easy recipe tutorial for making the internet famous Dot’s pretzels at home!

Homemade Dot's Pretzels Recipe - Erin Perry - Ice Cream & Neon Dreams

Have you guys tried the internet’s favorite snack food yet? I’ve been eating Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels for years, but they’re suddenly the most popular snack on Instagram right now. Every time I post about my love for Dot’s buttery, salty pretzels, I get a ton of people asking where they can buy them or complaining that they can’t find a store that carries them. So, I’m going to solve a few problems today and share my “dupe” or “recipe hack” for making homemade Dot’s Pretzels!

How to Make Homemade Dot’s Pretzels

I’m not normally a huge pretzel fan. They’re kind of boring and dry.

Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels are not your average pretzel. They’re literally SO GOOD. And yes, the caps are necessary.

Growing up, I was a huge fan of mustard pretzels. But I’ve gotta say, Dot’s flavored pretzels are 110% better than any other pretzel I’ve ever had.

They can be a bit hard to track down, but I’ve found them on Amazon & Target. Depending on where you live in the United States, you’ll see them pop up at grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores, etc.

One major downside of ordering them is the price. My heart sank a little when I realized I paid $17 for two one-pound bags of pretzels. Honestly, it’s not very realistic to be shelling out $17 for a two-pack of pretzels as often as I want to eat them.

What Makes Dot’s Pretzels Different

A lot of people call them “ranch style” pretzels. But they’re not just ranch dressing flavored pretzels.

I studied the ingredients list on the Dot’s Pretzels bag very carefully. The flavor of the pretzels tastes a lot like ranch dressing and the ingredients list is pretty spot on to a powdered ranch mix. But the game changer is (as with most recipes), melted butter!

While the regular ranch pretzels are tasty, they aren’t quite as magical as Dot’s Pretzels. Using butter (and a little bit of coconut oil) pulls all of the flavors together.

This Dot’s Pretzels copycat recipe is amazing by itself, but also great when you add them to snack mixes, as a breading (ground up) on chicken or even in salads as a crouton substitute!

This recipe is so easy. The main ingredient you need is ranch seasoning. You can use any ranch dressing mix, but I like Hidden Valley Ranch. If you’re looking to make these vegan, you can leave the butter out and only use coconut oil or olive oil. They’ll have less of the buttery flavor, but they’ll still be tasty. You could also use a butter flavored spray or butter flavor extract.

You can use any shape of pretzel you want. Dot’s uses braided pretzels, but I used pretzel sticks and they tasted just as good. You can also substitute gluten free pretzels to fit your dietary needs.
