5 Ingredient Toasted Sesame Salad
The highlight of this salad is the deep roasted sesame dressing from Kewpie. It’s literally one of my favorite salad dressings of all time – it’s so good I could drink it. I’m not kidding – everyone I share it with becomes a die hard fan.
A lot of the time, I just toss it with a few handfuls of lettuce for a quick side dish or lunch. And it’s great, literally the only salad dressing that stands on it’s own with lettuce!
This salad is more of a slaw, I use the same coleslaw mix I keep on hand for my wonton soup – it’s just a combination of green cabbage, red cabbage & carrots. A lot of the time I’ll just add a handful of it to romaine salads too. I love using coleslaw mix because it holds up. Meaning you can make the salad ahead of time and it doesn’t get soggy.
I like to add some chopped shallots (or onions) – but you can leave this out if you’re feeling lazy and don’t want to cut anything up!
I also add some rotisserie chicken – I will either buy a Costco rotisserie chicken and shred it up and save it for lunches throughout the week (super easy to just add to salad) or buy the ready to go rotisserie shreds at the grocery store. You can leave the chicken out though and it’s still really tasty.
Lastly – I like adding a little crunch. Sometimes I’ll use those fried wonton crisps you can buy, but I actually prefer using crispy onions because of the flavor. I recommend adding these last / waiting until you’re ready to serve so they stay crunchy.
