10 Minute Wonton Soup - Ice Cream & Neon Dreams

I SHARED MY EASY WONTON SOUP RECIPE ON INSTAGRAM A FEW MONTHS AGO AND GET MESSAGES WEEKLY ASKING FOR MORE DETAILS, SO HERE IT IS! I LOVE A 10 MINUTE MEAL HACK & THIS QUICK SOUP IS A MUST FOR COZY FALL & WINTER NIGHTS!

MY easy wonton soup recipe

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS RECIPE IS THAT YOU CAN KEEP MOST OF THE INGREDIENTS IN YOUR FREEZER/PANTRY YEAR ROUND AND PULL THEM OUT WHEN YOU WANT TO WHIP UP A QUICK MEAL.

THE STAPLE FOR THIS SOUP RECIPE IS FROZEN WONTONS (BUT FROZEN POTSTICKERS WORK TOO). YOU CAN USE ANY BRAND OR FLAVOR. AND YOU CAN SCALE THE BATCH OF SOUP DEPENDING ON HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU’RE FEEDING.

HERE’S WHAT I USE:

I START BY ADDING ABOUT A TABLESPOON OF SESAME OIL IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN OVER MEDIUM HIGH HEAT. THESE MEASUREMENTS ARE FOR ONE SERVING. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE 2, 3 OR 4, JUST ADJUST THE QUANTITIES ACCORDINGLY!

AFTER ABOUT 2-3 MIN, ADD ONE CRUSHED GARLIC CUBE OR 1-2 CHOPPED GARLIC CLOVES & 1 FROZEN ONION CUBE.

THEN, ADD THE WONTONS. I USED 8 MINI WONTONS. IF YOU’RE USING LARGER POTSTICKERS, ADD 3-4. POUR IN YOUR BEEF BROTH TO COVER THE WONTONS – ABOUT 2 CUPS. OPEN UP YOUR BAG OF COLESLAW MIX & ADD A HANDFUL.

WHILE YOU WAIT FOR THE BROTH TO COME TO A BOIL, ADD ONE CRUSHED GINGER CUBE, ABOUT A TABLESPOON OF SOY SAUCE. SLICE YOUR GREEN ONION & THROW THE WHITES INTO THE POT. BOIL FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THE WONTONS ARE COOKED THROUGH.

SERVE & TOP WITH THE GREEN SIDE OF THE SLICED GREEN ONION & SOME SESAME SEEDS. IF YOU WANT A LITTLE KICK, ADD SOME SRIRACHA.

A FEW NOTES

  • YOU CAN USE BEEF BROTH, BEEF STOCK, CHICKEN BROTH, CHICKEN STOCK, VEGETABLE BROTH OR VEGETABLE STOCK
  • IF YOU’RE VEGAN OR VEGETARIAN, OPT FOR VEGGIE DUMPLINGS OR WONTONS! TRADER JOE’S POTSTICKERS WORK GREAT TOO.
  • IF YOU’RE MAKING A BIGGER BATCH, USE A LARGE POT. IT WILL JUST TAKE A BIT LONGER TO BRING TO A BOIL.
  • I LIKE USING COLESLAW MIX, BUT BOK CHOY IS GREAT TOO!
  • YOU CAN WAIT TO ADD THE SOY SAUCE UNTIL YOU SERVE THE SOUP – THAT WAY IT’S NOT TOO SALTY!
