5 CLEANING HACKS FOR THE LAZY GIRL
Even if you’re not “lazy”, cleaning isn’t necessarily everyone’s favorite thing to do.
The thought of having to vacuum, mop & scrub makes me feel bored just thinking about it.
BUT… I always feel more motivated to clean when I find a hack or cool tip for cleaning. So I wanted to share my top 5 cleaning hacks for the lazy girl (who also wants a clean house). Hopefully they motivate you a little too!
5 CLEANING HACKS FOR THE LAZY GIRL
First things first, don’t stress. You don’t need to clean everything top to bottom in one day. I like to break things up into different weeks, seasons & times of year. But I’m so pumped to share my lazy girl cleaning hacks with you guys!
First Things First, Get Yourself a Robot Vacuum
We recently got a Eureka Groove Robot Vacuum Cleaner (specifically model NER300). And I’ve already nicknamed him Alfred. He’s basically my new butler.
Alfred the vacuum makes me feel so fancy. First of all, he’s voice activated. So you can use Alexa or Google Assistant to voice control him. “Alfred, I’m feeling lazy. Clean the house please”. He also comes with a remote control or you can access him on your phone through the Eurka app. I’ve already got him set on a schedule to clean the house every single afternoon.
The Eureka Groove has 3 cleaning modes:
- Auto mode – which runs through the whole house.
- Edge mode – great for corners and under your kitchen counters.
- Spot mode – for harder to reach areas or spots that get dirtier (aka if you had a cat, this would be perfect for cleaning the litter box area).
One thing I was pretty excited about is that it can climb! It’s got GrooveGear wheels that let it climb up onto carpets and over little ledges. Meaning it won’t get stuck when you’re. not paying attention.
Alfred is also smart enough not to fall down the stairs. He’s got a cliff detection sensor & anti collision sensors.
Side note: I also hate having to clean out the vacuum. Seriously grosses me out. The Eureka Groove has a transparent lid so you can see through it and lift up the dust cup. Making it way easier to clean up.
Use Your Dishwasher to Wash Just About Anything
Obviously you can wash dishes in your dishwasher. But here’s a fun trick, you can throw a ton of other stuff in for quick cleaning. A few examples:
- sponges & brushes
- kids toys
- shoes
- dog toys
- grill rack
- keys
- refrigerator shelves & bins
- soap dishes
- toothbrush holders
- hairbrushes & combs
Always Start With the Thing You Hate to Clean Most
This is mainly to trick your mind into cleaning more. If you start with what you hate to clean first, you’ll get it done and move on. It only gets better!
I always start with the bathrooms because they’re my least favorite chore! Once the toilets are clean, it’s easier to keep myself motivated.
lazy girl cleaning: Microwave Hack
This one is a little more specific, but microwaves get ignored most of the time. Honestly, this is my fave kitchen cleaning hack.
Put a wet cloth into the microwave for 30 seconds. The towel will be really hot, so be careful or use gloves. Then, use the cloth to clean the microwave. Such an easy way to remove all the gunk!
If your microwave is stinky, put two tablespoons of baking soda in a microwave safe bowl and add a cup of water to it. Then, microwave it for 3 minutes. The baking soda will kill the stinky smells!
biggest cleaning tip: Follow A Schedule
I put together the schedule I follow for you, just save it to your phone, print it out or pin it to your pinterest!
