20 Fun Things to Do Alone & Recharge Your Social Battery
Fun things to do alone & recharge your social battery.
I have no problem owning up to my introverted-ness. It’s not that I don’t like being with other people, but for the most part I spend a lot of time on my own. My husband travels for a good chunk of the year and when he’s gone, I really do enjoy finding ways to have quality “me time”. Every second of every day doesn’t need to be jam packed with activities and other people. Spending solo time is a great way to recharge your batteries and just get comfortable in your own skin. So get over your FOMO (fear of missing out) and take yourself out on a hot date – or solo hang sesh. Whether it’s an adventure, relaxing date or indulgent treat, here are 20 of my favorite dates to take myself on.
20 Fun Things to Do Alone
Treat Yo-self
Take yourself out for dessert! I love to follow dessert accounts on Instagram. If I’m feeling down or like I need to celebrate something, I take myself on a treat run! A few of my favorite spots in San Diego are Pop Pie Co, Hammonds Gourmet Ice Cream & The Incredible Cheesecake Company.
Go to a movie
Don’t feel embarrassed. Just own it. Go see a sappy flick in your sweats. No shame – because there’s no one there to see you!
Order takeout
There are so many awesome options nowadays. You can use Postmates, Uber Eats, Amazon Delivery, etc. Take a night off from cooking and order something fun for yourself!
Get your nails done
Literally one of my all time favorite ways to splurge. I like to get a pedicure and upgrade for a little extra foot massage.
Try a new workout class
I love trying new workouts. Maybe you want to check out a new yoga studio or finally try a pilates class. Get out and get moving! I love using Class Pass to try new workouts.
Go to a restaurant
Instead of sitting at a table, opt for a bar spot. Usually it feels less awkward and there’s more to look at while you wait for your food! Check out my Instagram guides for fun restaurants around the country.
Go to a concert
Who says you can’t go to a concert alone? Wiggle your way up to front and listen to the music instead of worrying about what everyone else is doing. Before you go, check out this blog post for concert tips!
Cook something new
Hint hint… no not just one of my recipes! Find something fun on Pinterest that you wouldn’t normally make.
Go to a Farmer’s Market
I love exploring my local farmer’s market. Most of the stands have free samples too! Jackpot!
Stay at Home Spa Time
I love a little stay at home spa session. I have a whole blog post with tips to pamper yourself at home too!
Create an Adventure Board
Spend some time on Pinterest planning your next adventure and all of the places you want to see!
Go on a hike
Take advantage of a little quiet time and become one with nature.
Shop til’ you drop
If you’re like me, the mall can be a little overwhelming. Take your time browsing the sale racks, no one is waiting for you to hurry up!
Do a face mask
I love trying new masks! Usually they take 20+ minutes, so turn on some Netflix and let the magic happen.
Take a day trip
Hop in the car and drive somewhere new! Check out a nearby town and don’t forget your selfie stick!
Go on some rides!
Whether it’s a local fair, amusement park or theme park… hop into the single rider line and skip the long wait!
Take a bath
Splurge on some fancy bubbles or bath bombs, pour a drink & turn on your favorite album.
Wake up early for the sunrise
Sunsets are easy. Challenge your internal clock and watch the sun rise. Pro tip: bring a cup of coffee and breakfast treat.
Explore a bookstore
Wander up and down the aisles. Read a few pages. Find something new to read in your downtime!
Turn off your phone
Seriously. Turn your phone off for 20 minutes. Everything will be there waiting when you turn it back on. Burn a candle, close your eyes, just enjoy being disconnected.
