The Baker Abroad: Eating My Way Around the World

the baker abroad

I’m getting so pumped up for the next year because there are so many cool places I get to travel to! Little known fact, my goal is to literally eat my way around the world. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to find cool restaurants & bars to check out. Not that I don’t enjoy wandering around and sight seeing. BUT, I have a giant list of places I want to check out in different cities.

I thought it would be fun to share some of them with you as I start planning my travels over the next few months! Then, when I actually go to them, I can give legit reviews and tips! Let’s stop wasting time… here are some of my top picks!

Brooklyn Pharmacy & Soda Fountain – Brooklyn, New York
brooklyn pharmacyOld school soda shop serving insane ice cream sundaes and milkshakes? Sign me up. You don’t even need to ask whether or not I’d devour their Cookie Monster Sundae in 2 minutes.

The Original Dinerant – Portland, Oregon

Word on the street is that they have a Voodoo Donut Burger, Beef Jerky Bloody Mary & an insane “Pancake of the Day”.

Bar Bacon – New York, New York

Damn straight, a bar dedicated to one of my favorite food groups. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bar Bacon Guacamole & Chips? Bacon Chili Cheese Nachos? BACON TASTING BOARD!? Yes. Please.

The Pie Hole – Pasadena, California

So wait… let me get this straight, I can order a Mac n’ Cheese Pie AND a Mexican Chocolate Pie? Get outta town…

Seattle Meowtropolitan – Seattle, Washington

Ok, so I’m totally allergic to cats but will take a few allergy pills just to get in here. It’s a kitty cafe that has coffee, treats & kittens to play with! (insert gasping emoji)

Donny Dirks Zombie Bar – Minneapolis, Minnesota

zombie den

Half cocktail lounge, half dive bar. The bartenders are dressed like zombie hunters, the waitresses look like Morticia Addams (swoon) & drinks are served in giant goblets.

Black Tap – New York, New York

Sorry, New York once again. But please tell me these aren’t the most INSANE milkshakes you’ve ever seen?

Carnivale – Chicago, Illinois

Honestly, I don’t even care what kind of restaurant it is. They had me at “Cotton Candy Martini” and neon ceilings.

The Wreck Bar – Fort Lauderdale, FL

Ok, so this isn’t just any bar. It’s a SHIPWRECK BAR! Apparently, if you go on a Friday night they have mermaids swimming behind the bar. If that’s not enough, we can’t be friends.

Ok, so now that I’ve share a couple of spots I want to check out. Tell me where the cool, hidden gems are in your city!
